Proud of my Deda!

Daddy graduated with his masters this weekend. I got to go watch the whole thing. I am very proud and was glad to get to hug and kiss him when it was over. Of course, the best part was the chocolate cake at the reception that followed.

What have I been up to lately?

Vrrroom...One of my favorite activities lately is making car noises and playing with toy cars.

My favorite word is "wee". I say it when zooming through a room with my arms flying up and down and feet stomping. I also say it when Deda (Daddy) tossles me about, when going down a slide, swinging, and when I jump out of the car with all of my might.

When I am really engaged, I stick my tongue out and get a really serious look, just like Deda.

Reading books is one of my favorite activites, I will read them alone or with anyone who will read with me. I often sleep with one and kiss the pages.

I can blow kisses and say, "Bye-bye, see you later!" at the appropriate times.

I am learning some simple sign language like eat, more and please. I use those signs more consistantly than others.

Cow Appreciation Day

We had a great time at Chick-Fil-A today. Our outfits were a moovalous hit. A lady we didn't know asked if we were part of a commercial and the manager got very excited when he saw us. Bailey couldn't stop smiling when she saw three people she knew. One of them was her volleyball coach, who cheered her on while the manager took our picture. He told us to be looking for it to be published.

Each of us got a free meal of our choice.....Moo-Hoo!

Unfortunately, my older brothers were afflicted with Teenager's Summer Sleep-in Syndrome and missed the fun. Well, there's always next year.

Grammie came to town

I went to visit my Grammie on July 7th. I enjoyed opening her cabinets and running around the house. Later we swam in Grammies pool for the day. Bailey, my big sister, stayed with Grammie for a week and she brought her back on July 12th. Grammie stayed over the night and visited for the next day. I had a great time showing off my skills to her. I am learning to put on shoes and clothes (everybody's). Grammie said that she is going to put some boy stuff in the dress up box, just for me.

Water Baby

I went swimming for my first time in a big pool at my uncle Casey's house this past Father's Day. I was a bit nervous, but after I got used to it, I enjoyed myself. Since then, My family took a camping trip and I swam in the river at Turner Falls, Oklahoma. Last weekend went swimming in a lake. People had flocked to the lake in hoards and jet skis and boats were out and causing waves. I am a bit top heavy so traversing the uneven lake bottom made staying upright a chore for me. I thought I could just take off like I do in the wading pool. Boy, was I wrong! I don't know what those fishies are thinking, I didn't enjoy the taste of the water much at all.

15 month check-up

Weight 22lbs.12oz 25% Height 331/2in. 95%, which basically means I am tall and thin...look out Aunt Cindy and Uncle Casey!

Everytime I visit for a milestone check-up, my doctor gives me a book. This time I got, "Big and Little", by Samantha Berger. It is a board book published by Scholastic. It is loaded with sight words. My 5 yr old sister Piper read it to me, before we left the office, in the car and when we got home. I think she loved it more than me!

1st real haircut

Mommy and Daddy took me for my first professional haircut on 5/27/06. Dee is the lady that cuts Daddy's hair. She has quite the following, so we waited a LONG time. Mommy ended up having to run errands and missed the whole thing, but Daddy made sure to get pictures. This took a lot of skill on Daddy's part, being that I sat on his lap to get my hair cut. Mommy showed up just in time to be sure to get some of my hair clippings. We have a hair swatch that is about 1 1/2 inches long.

My older brother Stefan followed suit a few days later and shaved his head using the home clippers. His hair is about 3/4in long all over. WOW...had a long shag haircut! Mommy saved 3 or more inches in a snack baggie. He said he wanted to be cooler for the summer. I think he enjoys looking like me. ;)wink

My First Birthday

Nobody calls me Harry, because my parents really prefer to not to use that nick-name. However, my sister, Piper, says that I am Harry the Dirty Dog when she is mad at me, so it gave Mommy an idea for cake decorating.

We had a small gathering of immediate family. My brothers and sisters, Mommy and Daddy and Rena, my dog, were there.

Harrison is ONE!

Growing like a reed

12 mth check-up, though tomorrow is my birthday.

I visited Dr. Juice today. I left with 4 shots and the following stats: 20lbs=10%31in=75%.

I am a bit on the thin side and very long, however, I am doing quite well. Mommy and Piper took the day off to be with me and Daddy took half a day. I've enjoyed all of the attention.

My Dr. gave me the board book "Babyfaces, Peek-a-Boo!", written by Roberta Grobel Intrater, and published by Scholastic.

Baby Steps

This morning Daddy left me in the kitchen with Bailey to go talk to Mommy who was getting ready for work in another room. During their conversation Mommy noticed how quiet the house seemed. She decided that it was a good idea to go check it out. Upon entering the kitchen, she saw Bailey wrangling cereal and a baggie for her breakfast on the go. Mommy asked Bailey where I was, to which she replied; “He’s right there,” looking down at the floor. However, I was not right there. I had plans of my own. Mommy headed into the foyer with Bailey at her heals. Mommy peeked into the laundry room on her way through the foyer. There was no sign of me! She began calling my name. No answer! Mommy continued up the stairs calling my name and scanning the family room for me, or evidence that I had been in the room. The light from Daddy’s office was casting my shadow into the hallway, the sound of my hands and knees slapping the floor could be heard coming closer and I was answering; “wha, wha, wha”. When I saw Mommy’s face, I squealed with delight. She lifted me from the floor and I hugged her neck tightly. Leaning around Mommy I called; “Da, Da, Da,” to Daddy who was standing on the landing looking farely dismayed. I excitedly told him, “kuuu”, which means that I was just trying to access OUR computer!

repeat performance

Again, I slept from 9:30pm – 4:30am and this time my parents seized the moment and got some needed rest. Of course, they bragged to me about how proud they were to encourage me to continue showing off my independence.

Sleeping Beauty

I am now eleven months old and I slept through the night for my first time ever. Mommy and Daddy were in such shock and awe that they had a restless night. They got up twice just to check on me.
